Renton box makers join forces
Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle)
Sound Container Inc. and Seattle Packaging Corp., both based in Renton, have merged to form Alliance Packaging LLC. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the combined company will employ about 700 people and generate about $200 million in revenue annually.
Alliance will operate from 750,000 square feet of facilities in Washington, Oregon and California, making all types of corrugated box products for sale throughout the Western United States.
Sound Container and Seattle Packaging were both founded in the late 1960s and have been competitors in the box-making business. The companies said the founders of both companies will remain "actively involved" in the merged business when it takes effect Jan. 1.
